Brenda Blethyn, star of ITV's Vera, shared an update on the future of the show after it was snubbed at the Royal Television Society North East and the Borders awards. Despite being nominated for Best Drama and Drama Performance, Vera left empty-handed.

During the event, Brenda revealed that Ann Cleeves, the author of the Vera books, is working on a new novel. Additionally, Vera has been commissioned for a fourteenth series, with filming set to begin at the end of April.
