BRIDGERTON’S Nicola Coughlan has teased a bitter rivalry on the Taskmaster New Year special and unleashing her dark side to win.
The 33-year-old actress – who also stars in hit comedy Derry Girls – is taking part in a one-off special of the Channel 4 show on New Year’s Day.
Nicola will be joined by Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas, TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal, TV journalist Krishna Guru Murphy and Four Weddings and a Funeral actor John Hannah.
But even though it’s a festive special, Nicola has revealed the cast were in it to win it and she wasn’t afraid to unleash her dark side to triumph.
She told Metro Online: “It’s insanely competitive. I can’t reveal too much but we were fighting it out for a point.
“There was definitely a distinct rivalry there between two people – I won’t say who!”
Nicola has been a massive fan of the show – which moved from Dave to Channel 4 for the recent series 10 – for years after watching it with her brother.
The star, who plays Penelope Featherington in the hit Netflix period drama, said: “He was like, ‘I’m more proud of you doing this than anything else’
“I was like, ‘I was in a show nominated for a Bafta and I am working with Shonda Rhimes but okay!'”
Taskmaster is hosted by comedians Greg Davies and Alex Horne, who comes up with the wacky tasks the famous faces have to take on.
Series 10 of the show finished earlier this month and saw comedian Richard Herring crowned the winner.
He will return for a new Champion of Champions series alongside former winners Liza Tarbuck, Kerry Godliman, Lou Sanders and Ed Gamble next year.
Meanwhile, the series 11 line-up has been confirmed and will see actresses Charlotte Ritchie and Sarah Kendall take part alongside comedians Jamali Maddix and Lee Mack and Greg’s Man Down co-star Mike Wozniak.
Taskmaster’s New Year Treat airs at 9pm on New Year’s Day on Channel 4.
