BRITNEY Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn claimed her parents had “pushed her to get an abortion” when she had gotten pregnant at the age of 16.
Jamie Lynn, 30, described the shocking moments in her upcoming book, Things I Should Have Said, from a passage obtained by TMZ.
Back in December 2007, Britney’s 16-year-old sister announced she was pregnant by her then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge, 18.
Before the pregnancy became public knowledge, the Steel Magnolias actress told the baby news to the people within her inner circle, who all reportedly thought “it was a terrible idea.”
Because they were supposedly worried the baby would possibly “kill” her career, The TV star’s inner circle allegedly told her: “There are pills you can take. We can help you take care of this problem…I know a doctor.
The inner circle allegedly “just wanted to make this ‘issue’ disappear.”
She claimed: “Everyone was certain that termination would be the best course of action.”
With her cell phone privileges removed, Jamie Lynn was allegedly not allowed to speak with her older sister.
Jamie Lynn claimed: “I needed her more than ever and she wasn’t able to help me in my most vulnerable time…To this day, the hurt of not being able to tell my sister myself still lingers.”
The Zoey 101 actress accused her father, Jamie, of pushing for an adoption.
Her team reportedly made an exclusive agreement with OK! Magazine to break the pregnancy story.
The outlet would also reportedly be given the first images of Jamie’s baby, Maddie Briann.
After splitting from Casey, Jamie is married to Jamie Watson, 39, and shares their three-year-old daughter, Ivey Joan.
BACKING OUT
Recently, the All That star was “blindsided” after a mental health organization had turned down a donation from her book’s proceeds.
The non-profit This Is Brave publicly declined the donation due to the fan outcry over Britney’s conservatorship battle and amid the claims that Jamie Lynn had abandoned her.
A source told PEOPLE that Jamie Lynn “was totally blindsided by them publicly walking away. The organization was recommended and vetted and knew we were donating, but they’ve been overwhelmed.
“Unfortunately with them backing out, they are essentially saying that one person’s mental health struggles are more valid and important than another. They took a clear stand on whose story they thought had more value to them. Seems their actions don’t align with their mission of supporting all voices.”
The source added: “Jamie Lynn has suffered abuses in her life as well and that’s what people aren’t understanding — she has her own things she’s gone through.”
The Tribute
Back in 2017, Jamie Lynn honored her older sibling at the Radio Disney Music Awards in Los Angeles.
The Toxic singer received a lifetime achievement prize during the glitzy event at the Microsoft Theater.
Jamie Lynn, actress Hailee Steinfeld, and other music stars performed a medley of Britney’s hit songs, which included Oops…I Did It Again, Til The World Ends, Circus, and Baby, One More Time.
