Camden Toy, Star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dies at 68

Camden Toy, known for his portrayal of terrifying monsters in the iconic 90s show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has passed away at the age of 68. The actor had been battling pancreatic cancer for the last two years, according to his partner Bethany Henderson.

Remembering Camden Toy

Friends of Camden Toy reported his death on Facebook and created a page in his memory. In a post on December 8, Henderson expressed hope for a longer and more fruitful time together, but unfortunately, the doctor's treatment proved ineffective. Toy's condition declined rapidly in the last two months and significantly in the past few days.

A Private Battle

Henderson revealed that Toy chose not to publicly disclose his cancer diagnosis "for many reasons." She acknowledged that this news may come as a shock to many of his fans who were unaware of his illness. Both Toy and Henderson expressed their appreciation for the support they received from his fans.

A Career in the Shadows

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Toy moved to New York and became one of the founding members of the Nada Theatre. He later relocated to Los Angeles, where he gained popularity for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Toy played iconic monsters on the show, such as Gnarl, the Ubervamp, and one of The Gentlemen in the Emmy-nominated episode "Hush" in 1999. His heavy makeup often concealed his true appearance, with Sarah Michelle Gellar, the star of Buffy, reportedly only seeing his real face when shown a photo by the producers. Toy appeared in five episodes of the show's seventh and final season, and he also had a role in the Buffy spin-off Angel.
