CASUALTY bosses decided to air a different story than initially scheduled on Saturday.
In another shake-up, BBC bosses have announced the axed episode of the soap has been given a new air date.
Viewers of the iconic medical drama were given a new insight on Paige Allcott’s relationship with Rash Masum in its latest instalment.
But as fans may already know, the original story due to air involved a school shooting.
The 80-minute special titled Wednesday’s Child was removed from BBC One‘s schedule in light of a recent school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
However, the episode was not completely scrapped but only delayed.

The broadcaster has confirmed that the instalment will air on Saturday, June 18.
After weeks of butting heads with his father David (played by Jason Durr), Ollie Hide (portrayed by Harry Collett) will be the main focus of the previously axed episode as he becomes involved in a school shooting.
The youngster has been showing troubling behaviour in recent weeks as his manipulative friend Rob (Noah Valentine) took advantage of his vulnerability and the pair were seemingly plotting something earlier in the season.
As mentioned above, this episode was removed from the air in a last-minute change of schedule after 18-year-old Salvador Ramos stormed into Robb Elementary School on May 24, 2022, armed with a handgun and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
He killed 21 people – 19 children and two teachers – before being shot dead by law enforcement officers.
Following the tragedy, the BBC debated on what to do about its harrowing Casualty episode.
“In light of recent tragic news events, we are reviewing the episode of Casualty due to transmit on 11th June on BBC One”, the broadcaster told Digital Spy in a statement.
A trailer for a completely different episode was then shared on social media, confirming that the instalment had been taken out of the schedule.
However, BBC One didn’t specify whether it had plans to air the episode at any other time.
Its original synopsis, prior to its removal from the air, read: “David must come to terms with Ollie’s involvement in a school shooting, and a patient from Paul’s past pushes him to be honest with Robyn.”
