CBS has recently pulled the plug on one of its most successful shows when it’s still in its prime.
Executives at CBS gave the boot to the beloved crime drama S.W.A.T. after they aired it on the network for six seasons.

CBS’ S.W.A.T.’s last episode will air on May 19 of this year
S.W.A.T.’s final episode will air on May 19, The Hollywood Reporter reported today.
Over the last several years, the show’s leading man Shemar Moore, 53, has captured the hearts of fans as the hard-hitting Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson.
Shemar, the other main actors on the show, the production team, and the writers room, were all credited and thanked by CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach for making S.W.A.T. a hit.
“For six seasons, the amazing talents of the S.W.A.T cast led by Shemar Moore, the writers, producers and crew guided by executive producers Shawn Ryan, Andy Dettman and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas brought us compelling, action packed episodes that also addressed important social issues and contributed to the success of our primetime line up,” Amy said in a statement.
“We sincerely thank them for their incredible work and passion and also thank our dedicated fans who tuned in every week.”
Unlike most shows that get canceled, S.W.A.T. was far from having low ratings.
The action-packed series had increased viewership within the last season, averaging 6.82 million viewers over seven days, compared to the 6.41 million in 2021-2022, THR explained.
Even with the dip in ratings among adults 18-49, S.W.A.T. still ranked as one of the top 20 dramas on ad-supported TV.
SAY IT AIN’T SO
An overwhelming amount of fans shared on Twitter that they were shocked that S.W.A.T. got canceled.
One fan tweeted: “I definitely didn’t think SWAT was going to be canceled.”
Another asked in disbelief: “SWAT GOT CANCELED???!?!?”
A third fan added: “I honestly was not expecting SWAT to be canceled. I’m genuinely shocked…”
Someone else complained: “I don’t understand why SWAT got canceled.”
Meanwhile, other fans were outraged by the show ending, some even attacking CBS’ head honchos for their decision.
“SWAT is canceled please take this back this isn’t funny,” a fan raged.
Another ranted: “I am so pissed off about SWAT being canceled it’s almost laughable.”
A third fan slammed: “@ABCNetwork CBS WAS DUMB AND CANCELED ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER. ABC SHOULD PICK IT UP!!!! #SWAT.”
A fourth person asserted: “Just saw that @swatcbs got canceled, am so pissed off right now. Really CBS this show deserves a 7 season! #SWAT.”
DIE-HARD FANS
CBS was destined to get backlash from fans for ending the show, being that S.W.A.T. has many die-hard fans.
Just last season, fans were left angered on Sunday, May 23, 2022, when season five episode 22 was delayed due to the PGA golf.
However, the finale, titled Farewell, eventually aired with Christina “Chris” Alonso making her final appearance on the show.
Chris, played by Lina Esco, spent the night with her long love interest Jim Street as the team tackled their last high-profile terrorist attack together.
It came after Alonso had told Street had she had decided to leave SWAT to take over from Mama Pina – the woman who runs a local safe house for immigrant women fleeing bad situations and is now hospitalized.
Talking to TVLine in March, she said: “I love the Mama Pina storyline.
