The Boxing Showdown That Had Viewers Cheering
In the first episode of the new series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, fans were treated to a brutal boxing challenge between former footballer Jermaine Pennant and former health secretary Matt Hancock. As the intense fight unfolded, it was clear that Pennant dominated the ring, bringing Hancock to the ground. Some viewers even expressed their desire to be in Pennant's shoes, as they reveled in the beat down.
A Season of New Contestants
The latest season of Celebrity SAS welcomed 16 new contestants, including Matt Hancock, actor Kirsty-Leigh Porter, rugby legend Gareth Thomas, comedian Zoe Lyons, and pop star Michelle Heaton. As the show's directing staff (DS) noted, the contestants are pushed to their limits in ways that embody their worst nightmares.
Matt Hancock's Demise in the Boxing Challenge
Matt Hancock entered the show with confidence, but it didn't take long for that facade to crumble. Paired with Jermaine Pennant for the boxing challenge, Hancock found himself overwhelmed and ultimately brought to the ground. SAS fans on social media rejoiced in his defeat, while the DS branded him a "f***king fail."
"Cry for the Cameras, Matt Hancock"
Some viewers couldn't help but notice a teary-eyed Hancock after his beating, although one viewer suggested it was all a show. Despite his boxing failure, it wasn't the only mishap for Hancock in the episode. He also faced criticism for his "catastrophic fail" on the Trainasium exercise. Admitting that he let himself down, Hancock was candid about his lackluster performance.
Other Recruits Pushed to Their Limits
While Hancock's struggles stole the spotlight, other recruits also faced their own challenges. Pop star Michelle Heaton, who initially expressed excitement about the show, broke down in tears after receiving a stern talking-to from the DS. Worried that she had already earned their disdain, Heaton found herself on an emotional rollercoaster.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues on Channel 4 on Sunday at 9pm.
