The Channel 4 interrogation game show format saw members of the public who consider themselves amateur sleuths listen to unbelievable stories from a series of ‘suspects’.
However, only one of them was telling the truth, so experienced police detectives tried to sort the fact from the fiction by interrogating the suspects.
Meanwhile the contestants tried to dig into the stories of the suspects as well, poring over every detail and questioning them in the interrogation cell.
If the contestants identified the correct suspect, they won a cash prize, but if the suspects were convincing enough and the contestants ended up picking a fake, it was the suspect who walked away with the money.
TV Zone has now reported that the show will not be returning for a second series.
A Channel 4 spokesperson told the outlet: “Every year, Channel 4, like all broadcasters, makes decisions about which shows to rest, return or conclude to ensure we always innovate and offer viewers the best range of programming.
“The decision not to recommission You Won’t Believe This which aired in 2022 was not financial.”
It’s the second blow for Ellie, 39, in as many days, as it was confirmed yesterday that another of her programmes has been axed.
Let’s Make a Love Scene was a unique take on the dating show format, and saw singletons recreate sex scenes from iconic movies in a bid to see if love will blossom for real.
The participants of the show tried to recreate the sexual chemistry of iconic film sex scenes, such as Ghost, The Notebook and Fifty Shades of Grey.
While two episodes made it to air, the show has not been picked up for a full series and will not return.
The show’s axing comes after a string of programme culling as Channel 4 tries to balance the books and cut costs.
