Double The Money gets the axe

Channel 4 has decided to pull the plug on the game show Double The Money after just one series on air. Hosted by comedian Sue Perkins, the show required contestants to double a certain amount of money within a set time frame or face elimination.

Competition format

Sue Perkins oversaw 13 pairs of Brits trying to double their money each week, with the final challenge being to turn £10,000 into £20,000 within a month. The winning couple would not only take home the show's prize but also an additional £20,000.

End of the road

Despite the show's format and Perkins' hosting, Channel 4 has chosen not to renew Double The Money for a second series, leaving fans disappointed. The decision comes after Perkins had ventured into game show hosting following her travel show stints.

Sue Perkins' TV journey

Before fronting Double The Money, Sue Perkins explored Alaska and Thailand in her own Lost in... series for Channel 5 and embarked on a Big Adventure from Paris to Istanbul for Channel 4. Fans also remember her from The Great British Bake Off, which she co-hosted with Mel Giedroyc.
