GREEN Street actor Jamie Kenna has joined the cast of Coronation Street – as Fiz’s new love interest.
His character – Phil Whittaker – will be introduced this week when he asks Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) on a date.
Fiz is set to get her revenge on cheating Tyrone (Alan Halsall) after he ditched her for the much younger Alina (Ruxandra Porojnicu) and Phil is the perfect person to help her.
A very excited Jamie shared the news this week, telling his followers: “ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! I can finally….FINALLY tell you all my amazing news! As of 16th July I will be appearing regularly as Phil Whittaker in the national institution that is @coronationstreet.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be joining the cast. Especially the brilliant @jenniemcalpine & @alanhalsall.”
Viewers have watched Fiz struggle with Tyrone leaving her and her two kids.
She received another blow last week when she discovered that Alina is pregnant – and that Tyrone had been keeping it a secret from her.
In upcoming scenes Beth and Sean convince her to sign up to a dating website.
Her first date doesn’t go to plan when the man turns out to be an undercover reporter hoping to run a story on women who’ve been dumped for younger models.
Fiz is humiliated but, when the reporter points out how sweet the revenge would be if she told the world the truth, she’s torn.

Amid the drama, a customer – Phil – asks her out for a drink and it seems it could be the start of something new as Jamie revealed he is now a regular character.
Jamie is best known for playing Big Marc in Green Street but briefly appeared in EastEnders as Vince Franks.
He also starred as Little John in Robin Hood: The Rebellion in 2018.
