Coronation Street stars look worlds away from their Cobbles characters in festive performance on Britain Get Singing

THE cast of Coronation Street looked worlds away from their Cobbles characters in a festive performance for Britain Get Singing.

Tonight a range of TV stars showed off their best vocals for a festive sing-off as part of ITV’s mental health campaign, Britain Get Talking.

They performed in front of Alesha Dixon, Jason Manford, Adam Lambert and will.i.am

Telly favourites from Corrie, Loose Women, Love Island and The Chase were amongst those who took part.

They had to impress the judging panel, which consisted of Alesha Dixon, Jason Manford, Adam Lambert and will.i.am.

The Coronation Street stars looked unrecognisable from their alter-egos as they took to the stage.

Kevin Webster actor Michael Le Vell, Debbie Webster actress Sue Devaney and Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy Mayhew in the show were part of the gang.

Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel Osbourne, Glenda Shuttleworth star Jodie Prenger and Channique Sterling-Brown, who took on the role of  Dee-Dee Bailey earlier this year, also joined them.

They performed This Is Me from the Greatest Showman.

Michael bravely opened up about his struggle with anxiety on Britain Get Singing.

He kicked off the show with a very honest admission.

As the Corrie cast rehearsed on the set of the Rovers Return Michael began to cry and had to step away and wipe his eyes.

He later said: “There was just something so powerful and emotional with us all doing it together.”

Sue Devaney, who plays his on screen sister, asked him how he was feeling in a separate clip, and said: “How are you finding it so far?

“You got emotional at one point, didn’t you?”

Michael admitted he can feel overwhelmed with nerves when getting up on stage, and even on the set of Corrie.

He said: “I get anxious doing me proper job.

“You know, even after all these years, and so doing something like this that I’ve never done before. I did get nervous.”

Offering him some comfort, Sue replied: “I struggle with anxiety and I have done for years.

“I can talk to you about it, and I’m not ashamed about it. It’s part of who I am.”
