Coronation Street Legend Bill Roache Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Coronation Street icon Bill Roache, aged 92, recently discussed his future on the cobbles as he was honored with a prestigious award. Playing Ken Barlow since the soap's inception in 1960, Roache is the last original character standing.
Awarded at The Entertainment Agents' Awards
Bill Roache was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Entertainment Agents' Awards (TEAA), where he was acknowledged for his remarkable contributions to the UK television industry. Co-star Claire Sweeney, known for her role as Cassie Plummer, handed him the award alongside singer Tony Christie.
Reflecting on His Career
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Roache shared, "It’s a huge honor to receive this award, and I am very grateful for it. I’ve enjoyed a wonderful career and to have spent so many years working on such a special programme like Coronation Street has been magical."
Enduring Legacy on Coronation Street
Having portrayed Ken Barlow for over six decades, Roache remains a pivotal figure in the soap opera. Despite facing various dramatic storylines, including a recent plot where his character was poisoned by co-star Claire Sweeney's on-screen persona, Roache looks forward to continuing his journey on the cobbles.
