Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley reveals she would ‘absolutely’ return to show as Eva Price

CORONATION Street’s Catherine Tyldesley has revealed that she would “absolutely” return to the show as Eva Price.

The 37-year-old actress, who starred in the popular ITV soap from 2011 to 2018 as the younger half-sister of Leanne Battersby, has admitted that she definitely sees herself making a comeback.

During an appearance on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch yesterday afternoon, Catherine opened up about the idea of a return for her on-screen alter-ego.

Host of the show Steph McGovern touched upon the soap’s 60th anniversary and asked if she has any plans to go back to the Cobbles.

She replied: “I’ve been a fan since I was a little girl, of course.

“At some point, you know, I’m really enjoying doing different projects and touch wood I’m really busy at the moment.

“But Corrie is so close to my heart, if the opportunity came up in the future, absolutely.”

The news comes just a week after the star admitted that she wants to make a return to the Street just three years after she filmed her final scenes.

The barmaid decided to leave Weatherfield for a clean break after her parter Aidan Connor committed suicide.

And show bosses left the door open for her return by refusing to kill off her character.



Catherine left the soap to pursue other acting roles

Catherine recently told Morning Live presenters Gethin Jones and Kym Marsh, who played Michelle Connor in the soap: “I am sure Kym will say the same, it’s like a second home for us because we’ve both been there for such a long time. 

“I’ll always miss it and it will always be a second home. 

“It’s just a wonderful place and wonderful people to work with… It’s brilliant… 

“Hopefully one day I might revisit the cobbles…”

The star also recently wrote her own play called The Ceremony

Since her departure from Corrie, the soap star has been able to pursue other acting roles roles – which is exactly what she wanted to do.

Catherine portrayed Karen Norris in BBC One sitcom Scarborough last year and also took part in the seventeenth series of Strictly Come Dancing, but was eliminated in week 6.

She’ll next be on our screens for ITV’s upcoming new drama Viewpoint, which follows a tense police surveillance investigation into a tight knit Manchester community.

The gripping five-part drama, which is yet to have a release date, will also star Noel Clarke, Bronagh Waugh (The Fall, Unforgotten), Sarah Niles (Trust Me, Catastrophe) and Shannon Murray (Get Even, EastEnders).
