Corrie Star Simon Gregson Discloses Humorous Nickname for On-Screen Daughter
Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson, known for his role as Steve McDonald on the popular ITV soap, recently appeared on the celebrity special of Deal or No Deal and shared a funny nickname he has for his on-screen daughter, played by Elle Mulvaney.
Smelly Belly: Simon Gregson's Nickname for Elle Mulvaney
During the episode, host Stephen Mulhern asked Gregson who he wanted to open the next box. Gregson cheekily replied, "She’s going to hate me for saying this, but smelly belly," referring to Mulvaney's character, Amy. The 47-year-old actor explained that he had been calling her "Smelly Belly" since she was little, and although she went through a phase of objecting to the nickname, she has since accepted it.
Embarrassment and Laughter on Set
Mulvaney, who was present in the audience, joined in the conversation and stated, "I’ve just decided there’s no point arguing it." Stephen Mulhern playfully highlighted that Gregson had now revealed the nickname in front of millions of people, to which Gregson responded with laughter, saying, "No big deal."
Unfortunate Outcome on the Show
Despite the lighthearted banter, Mulvaney's appearance on the show did not go as planned. When she lifted her box, it was revealed that she had a disappointing £25,000 inside. Fans of the show took to Twitter to react to the nickname and express their support for Mulvaney.
