Dancing On Ice Pro Matt Evers Quits Show After 17 Years

American skater Matt Evers, known for his iconic moments on the hit show, will not return for the upcoming series.

Dancing On Ice professional skater Matt Evers has announced that he is leaving the popular ITV skating series after an impressive 17-year run. The 47-year-old American skater, who joined the show in 2004, made history in 2020 by becoming the first skater to be in a same-sex pairing with Steps singer Ian "H" Watkins. Matt has also been paired with notable celebrities such as TOWIE star Gemma Collins and EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer.

A Fond Farewell: Reflecting on Memorable Moments

In a statement, Matt expressed his gratitude for the unforgettable experiences he had on the show. He said, "After 15 series of the show, it was sadly time to hang up the skates for now. I have loved every minute of it (honestly!). I've had some incredible partners over the years and we have created some fantastic TV moments! I mean, who can forget that fall from Gemma, or the wardrobe malfunction from Pamela!"

Matt also acknowledged the historical significance of his partnership with Ian "H" Watkins, stating, "I was honored to make history with H as the first-ever UK same-sex televised partnership."

Looking Ahead: A See You Soon, Not a Goodbye

Although Matt has decided to step away from the show, he assured fans that this is not a permanent farewell. He said, "This isn't a goodbye but a 'see you very soon.' I'll miss each and everyone on the show, in front and behind the camera – and all of you, the fans too!"
