DANCING On Ice Signs Claire Sweeney for 2024 Series

Soap Star Joins Celebrity Lineup

Dancing On Ice has added another name to its celebrity lineup for the upcoming series. Liverpool actress Claire Sweeney will take to the ice in January 2024, following the announcement of boxing legend Ricky Hatton's participation. The news was revealed on This Morning, with host Holly Willoughby dropping major hints about Claire's identity throughout the show.

From Coronation Street to the Ice Rink

Earlier this year, Claire Sweeney joined the cast of Coronation Street as Cassandra Plummer, Tyrone Dobbs' biological mother. Now, she's set to showcase her skating skills on Dancing On Ice. Claire's previous dance experience won't necessarily translate to the ice, as she explained, "How does dancing prepare you for skating? It's totally different. It's more about the mind and conquering the fear."

A Makeover and More

Claire expressed excitement about the hair and makeup transformations she'll experience on the show, saying, "Having the make-under as Cassie on Corrie then a make-over on the weekend will be really nice." The actress has been wearing in her ice boots at home, much to the confusion of her nine-year-old son. But she hasn't stepped on the ice yet and admitted that the infamous "headbanger" move terrifies her.

Ricky Hatton and More

Claire isn't the only celebrity joining the Dancing On Ice lineup. Yesterday, it was confirmed that ex-world champion Ricky Hatton will also be participating. Ricky, known for his role in advocating for mental health, explained his motivation for joining the show, saying, "What I bang the drum about is keeping yourself busy. It's about taking on new adventures, and it doesn't come quite as new as Dancing On Ice."
