DANCING On Ice pro Sylvain Longchambon has said the show now has only “positive criticism” now Jason Gardiner is no longer on the judges panel.
Gardiner left the series in 2019 after a long-standing position on the Dancing On Ice judges panel, following a string of on-screen clashes with contestants for his savage comments.

Sylvain has now returned to the show and is performing with Mollie Gallagher
With 2023’s series now fully underway, Sylvain has spoken about his time on the series, and took a swipe at the former judge compared to the far more positive outlook the show has now.
Speaking to Betway, Sylvain said of the current panel – comprised of Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse: “I think the judges are brilliant! Obviously with Ashley and Oti being dancers, they’ve been on reality shows. Oti was a pro on Strictly, so she knows how it works for the celebs and the pros.
“I think it’s great and obviously with Chris and Jayne, they know everything about ice skating and couples. I think it’s a perfect panel for the judges.”
When asked if he ever felt they were “too critical” on the amateur celebrity dancers, particularly in the early stages of the competition, he added: “Not anymore since Jason Gardiner has left!”
“I think it’s always very positive criticism with the judges,” Sylvain explained. “There’s no nastiness, so they want you to improve, without making you feel like you have done something wrong.
“It’s always constructive and they want us to improve. It’s never personal, so I think those judges are really good.”
Sylvain returned to Dancing On Ice this year after a two-year absence, and has been partnered with Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher.
On tonight’s episode – an “icons” special – the pair will be attempting the first headbanger of the series, a potentially dangerous stunt that sees Sylvain swinging Mollie’s head towards the floor as he spins.
They will be paying tribute to Billie Eilish, and will perform to her song Happier Than Ever.
Dancing On Ice airs Sundays on ITV and ITVX.
