DAVID Walliams had a dig at Ronan Keating in an awkward moment on last night’s The One Show.
The children’s author and Britain’s Got Talent judge was on the show to promote his new Sky film Hansel and Gretel: After Ever After.
Its title caused Boyzone frontman Ronan a bit of bother, and he momentarily appeared to forget it altogether.
Discussing the festive special, which also stars Sheridan Smith, Ronan said: “You’ve got a new show, it’s a reimagined version of a much-loved fairy tale.
“It’s called … erm … Hansel and Gretel: After Ever After.”
The Irishman apologised for stumbling over his words, blaming it on the film’s “complicated” title.
David joked: “It’s all right, don’t worry. I know you don’t do any research.”
Fellow guest, Olympian Tom Daley, later flattered David by admitting his son Robert was a big fan of his kids’ books.
He said: “Well, we won’t give any endings away here, but I’ve got a three-year-old who has been revealing the ending to your latest children’s book, Gangster Granny Strikes Again.”
Praising the athlete while taking aim at Ronan, David replied: “He did his research. He didn’t arrive at 6.59.”
There were more barbs from the comedian when Ronan said he wished the star was his dad after David painted a nice family scene.
Branding the host “odd”, he then added: “He’s had a lot of work done, that’s why he looks young.”
Embarrassing Ronan even further, he added that the singer didn’t know what an adjective was.
The host bashfully replied: “You weren’t supposed to say that out loud.”
