DAYS of Our Lives fans are furious after character Jennifer Horton returned to mourn the death of her daughter Abigail, but with a different actress in the role.
Usually portrayed by star Melissa Reeves, she was replaced by in the new episode with someone else.
At the very end of Friday’s episode, Jennifer’s daughter, Abigail Deveraux (played by Marci Miller), was discovered unconscious by her husband Chad.
During Monday’s Days of Our Lives, fans learned Abby was officially dead from her stab wounds.
The following broadcast saw the return of her parents, Jennifer and Jack, who came back to town to mourn their child.
While Matthew Ashford came back to once again play Jack, Melissa was not there alongside him as Jennifer.

Fans were furious not to see her, especially as it was Melissa who reportedly confirmed at a fan event that her character’s daughter would be killed off the show.
Then, when it happened, the actress was nowhere to be found onscreen.
Instead, Cady McClain, who has previously filled in as the character in 2020 and 2021, returned as Jennifer for the mourning scenes.
Viewers were angered by this swap, as Tuesday’s scenes were important, and they wanted the “real” actress to be there for it.
One upset fan tweeted: “Melissa Reeves wasn’t playing Jen again. She was just on the show not long ago.
“…I wanted to see Reeves’ acting in this storyline, not this fake-Jen.”
Another wrote: “I prefer Melissa Reeves too..Guess she wasn’t coming back.”
The original tweeter added: “She comes back & forth. This was the wrong episode for her to miss.
“She has more history with the show & with the characters than the fake-Jen.
“Melissa’s grief would’ve been more convincing.”
A third angered viewer said: “I’m disappointed that Melissa Reeves isn’t here for this.
“She was just on Screen a few weeks ago.”
“And of course Melissa Reeves is not available for this,” a fourth commented on the switch-up. “Why? It’s a travesty!”
Another said that “it’s not Jennifer if its not Melissa Reeves.”
Before seeing that Jennifer wasn’t being played Melissa as they’d hoped, fans were already angry with the show for just killing off Abby in the first place.
After almost 30 years of being a character on the soap, Abigail was murdered, and fans blasted how DAYS handled such a legacy character.
One angry fan tweeted: “This is a HUGE mistake! Soap Opera Rule #1 : YOU DON’T KILL OFF A LEGACY CHARACTER!”
Another furiously wrote: “We are very upset that Abigail is being killed off the show!
“We all love Marci Miller as Abigail, couldn’t it been done some other way?”
“So I’m a long time #Days fan but i am pissed that Abigail is being killed off,” a third said, calling it “BS!”

However, some fans don’t think Abby is actually dead.
They are hoping this is all one, big fake-out and that she’s actually still very much alive and will return in the future.
