DOCTOR Who is set to unveil the latest companion for the hit show TONIGHT.
Fans of the programme will be able to finally see the identity of who is playing the Doctor‘s long-trusted sidekick as part of a reveal on Children in Need tonight.
Ncuti will star alongside the as yet unidentified companion
They will make their debut on the show in 2023
Whilst it is not yet known just exactly how the new new identity and actor will be revealed, they will join a long line of iconic fan favourites following in the footsteps of Billie Piper, Catherine Tate and Bradley Walsh.
They will accompany the newly announced fifteenth doctor, played by Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa.
The pair are expected to make their debut on screen over the festive period of 2023 meaning that fans still have more than a year to wait until they get to see Ncuti and his mysterious companion in action.
When announcing Ncuti as taking on the leading role, returning show executive producer, Russell T. Davies said, “The path to Ncuti’s 15th Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun!”
The news comes after it was revealed Miriam Margolyes would be playing a guest role in one of the upcoming sixtithe anniversary specials where David Tennant will also be reprising his role as the Doctor.
The shows, which start airing next year on BBC1, will see her appear opposite David Tennant as he reprises his role as the timelord.
A TV insider said: “With an acting career almost as old as Doctor Who itself, it’s a surprise to think she hasn’t already featured in an episode over the past six decades.
“But that only makes her even more of a prestige addition to a cast which already features Neil Patrick Harris and Catherine Tate, who returns to play the Doctor’s assistant Donna Noble.
“The show’s creators felt that she was such a great character in real life that she was a natural choice to play the character she will have on the sci-fi show, which the BBC are keeping a closely guarded secret.”
