Matt Hancock’s lover Gina Coladangelo quits job after 6 weeks amid rumours they’ll launch media career after I’m a Celeb

MATT Hancock’s lover Gina Coladangelo quit as director of a charity after less than six weeks – the day after it was revealed the MP was to take part in I’m a Celebrity.

Marketing exec Gina, 45, had only held the post as a trustee of UK Youth for 41 days when she stood down, sparking rumours of a media career.

She was revealed as a director on September 22, but by November 2 – less than 24 hours after ex Health Secretary Hancock said he was heading to the jungle – it was announced she was quitting.

Gina has not commented since Mr Hancock shocked Westminster with his decision to head to Australia.

The charity supports other organisations working with youngsters around the UK and trying to help them into work.

UK Youth did not respond directly when asked about any connection between her departure and Hancock’s decision to appear on the ITV show.

A spokesperson also ignored questions on who decided to terminate the post so abruptly, saying: “We do not comment on individual Trustees. We are on-boarding several trustees onto our Board. Some of whom will begin in 2022 and others in 2023.”

It comes amid rumours that Ms Coladangelo is lining up a career in the media, possibly alongside her MP boyfriend.

There is speculation that Mr Hancock might leave his role as MP for West Suffolk for the pair to pick up high-profile work on TV and radio.

He is reportedly being paid £400,000 to appear on I’m A Celebrity and is said to see the show as a chance to earn the public’s forgiveness.

Ms Coladangelo has joined Chris Moyles’s girlfriend Tiffany Austin and Mike Tindall’s wife Zara Phillips at the Mariott Hotel on the Gold Coast as they await their partner’s exit from the jungle.

A spokesperson for the Charity commission said: “We can confirm that Gina Coladangelo was listed as a trustee of UK Youth between September 22, 2022 and November 2, 2022.”

Details were quietly posted on Companies House as attention was focussed on her lover’s decision to appear on the show for a fortnight in Australia.

The decision has been hugely controversial and led to Hancock losing the Conservative whip in Parliament.

Critics are furious that the former Health Secretary has turned his back on his work just as an inquiry onto the handling of the pandemic response by the Government gets underway.
