EastEnders fans are convinced another huge soap character will return from the dead after Cindy Beale makes comeback

EASTENDERS fans think an iconic character will make a comeback after Cindy Beale made a shock return from the dead.

Fans of the soap were left stunned as it was announced that Cindy Beale, played by Michelle Collins, was coming back despite dying off-screen 25 years ago.

Making a comeback with iconic character Ian Beale, played by Adam Woodyatt, Cindy first appeared on EastEnders in 1988 and dated barman Simon Wicks (played by Nick Berry) before starting a relationship with Ian and marrying him in 1989.

The shocking return – revealed by The Celeb Report – was pictured in a promo on Instagram that showed Michelle and Adam stood side by side, with her clutching a wilted rose.

Fans flocked to the comments to share their thoughts, with some theorising the comeback of another beloved member of the cast.

Sparking the theory, Fatboy (Arthur) star Ricky Norwood commented a series of flame emojis under the post.

Quick to point out the potential hit, one fan replied to him: “You should have been brought back to EE.”

Another urged: “Bring back Fatboy!!!”

A third gushed: “Was not happy when you & Richard Blackwood left. Loved your characters. Ever since I just flick at it. Not the same.”

A fourth exclaimed: “Excuse me Fat Boy! Protest the BBC for your return. We want it so much.”

Others began speculating about his return, with one theorising: “You need to come back, Fatboy didn’t even have a funeral, so wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still alive lol.”

“We know you are still alive,” added another.

After nearly six years in the role, Ricky’s character died off-screen in a case of mistaken identity prior to the episode broadcast.

Fans weren’t pleased though, with some even setting up petitions to bring the character back.

However, last year the soap showed off a crucial clue that Fatboy would be returning to screens.

As Walford residents learned of the sad passing of Dot Cotton, she was given a royal send-off.

A sympathy card addressed to Dot appeared to be from the lovable character.

Its message read: “Mrs B – Forever in my heart. Arthur x.”

Meanwhile, viewers can watch Cindy’s return from the dead in a longer than usual episode tonight on BBC One.
