EastEnders fans break down in tears as Jean’s downward spiral sparks HUGE turning point for Stacey and Harvey

EASTENDERS fans were in floods of tears as Stacey Slater and Harvey Munroe bonded over their concern for Jean in an emotional scene on Tuesday’s episode.

The cleaner – played by Gillian Wright on the BBC One soap – has been going through a manic episode which has led to her having some troubling behaviours.

Jean’s daughter begged Harvey not to marry her mum

This included asking for Harvey’s hand in marriage on a whim, after agreeing to spending some time apart.

On the latest instalment, the cabbie found out Aaron has been the victim of a brutal attack in prison and was left seriously injured.

A concerned Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) drove a fragile Harvey to the hospital and remained by his side.

As the pair awaited news on Aaron’s surgery, it dawned on Stacey that her mum has been too much of a distraction for Harvey and begged him not to marry her.

BBC viewers were “in bits” as they watched the pair have a rare heart-to-heart.

One fan wrote: “I’m so pleased that Harvey managed to open up to Stacey.

“This is what he needed to do. Tell Stacey what is going on with Aaron so she can understand why Harvey has been so distant when it comes to Jean and her episodes.”

Another posted: “Ok I’m actually in bits at these two bonding?? Anyone else #eastenders.”

“A third said: “Harvey and Stacey: So it was another emotional episode for Harvey tonight as he discovers that Aaron was taken to hospital after being stabbed. Glad they bonded.

“I actually felt really sorry for Harvey. He really is close to his children and would do anything for them.”

But Stacey may not need to do much: in later scenes, Harvey is stunned by Jean’s nonchalant attitude after he tells her Aaron’s life is hanging in balance.

Jean has also been seen stealing money from Kat Slater and letting young Tommy Moon take the blame.

Meanwhile, her daughter Stacey has been trying to get her the help she needs to no avail.

The last straw could come sooner rather than later.

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday on BBC One.
