Fans spot similarities
EastEnders fans are drawing comparisons between the recent murder storyline involving Keanu Taylor and a popular US show. Viewers have noticed similarities between The Six's cover-up of Keanu's murder and a storyline in Desperate Housewives, which aired from 2008 to 2012.
The plot
In Desperate Housewives, four main female characters dispose of a body and make a pact to never speak of it again. Similarly, The Six in EastEnders bury Keanu's body under Kathy Beale's café following his demise on Christmas Day. However, as history has shown, secrets like these have a way of resurfacing.
Predictions and parallels
Some EastEnders fans are speculating that the similarities between the two shows may provide clues about the future twists and turns in the plot. In Desperate Housewives, a witness to the murder blackmailed one of the characters. This has led viewers to predict that Dean Wicks could potentially blackmail Linda in EastEnders, as he was shown upstairs during Keanu's murder.
Will history repeat itself?
In Desperate Housewives, the women faced a threat of exposure and were almost discovered when a building site was about to dig up the body. It remains to be seen if a similar situation will arise in EastEnders. Will DI Jack Branning get involved and help his wife Denise Fox? Will The Six need to move Keanu's body to avoid detection?
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
