Soap fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of Sam Mitchell to EastEnders. After months of absence, the bombshell is finally making her way back to the Square next week – and she's bringing heaps of trouble with her.

Kim Medcalf will be reprising her role as Sam Mitchell in the BBC One soap next week. Sam left Walford earlier this year for a job opportunity abroad, but now she's crashing back into Albert Square with a request for her brother Phil Mitchell. And there's more to her return than meets the eye.
A tangled web of drama
During Sam's absence, her son Ricky Branning became a father to a girl named Charli. But when Sam returns, she hasn't yet seen her son or her granddaughter. To make matters worse, she's in trouble with a drug boss, owing him a substantial amount of money. Sam turns to Phil for help, but his wife Kat is furious about his involvement.
Will Sam be able to mend her relationships?
As Sam tries to rebuild her relationships with Ricky and Charli, she faces resistance and skepticism. Ricky is hurt and angry, feeling neglected by his mother's absence. Sam insists that she's ready to make them her priority now that her troubles are behind her. She turns to Stacey for help in convincing Ricky, and later asks Phil for a place to stay so she can be there for her family.
