EMMERDALE fans were left distracted by a glaring blunder as Marlon Dingle returned home after he suffered a stroke.
The chef – who is played by actor Mark Charnock in the ITV soap – was given water by his daughter April last night after they were left alone together but it went horrendously wrong.
Marlon began to choke on the water and April panicked, screaming for help from Rhona.
She rushed in and saved Marlon by getting the water out of his throat, but April was still terrified.
“I thought he was having another stroke,” she said.
Rhona reassured her telling her: “He was thirsty, and you gave him a drink.”

“We just have to be careful just until he gets better.”
But viewers were shocked that April had “yanked” her dad’s head back and “threw” the glass of water down his throat in the surprise scene.
Fans were convinced that the youngster and Rhona would have been given the correct training on how to give Marlon liquids as part of his rehabilitation.
One wrote: “April chucking water down Marlon’s gob like she’s trying to put out a fire.”
Another posted: “Maybe they could’ve showed April how to help Marlon & what to do if he choked.”
“You wouldn’t give Marlon water that quickly & surely everyone would have been shown how to give liquids,” a third said.
A fourth echoed: “The way April yanked Marlon’s head back to give him a drink,”
Another chimed in: “Jesus, April chill out, there’s no rush. She nearly put the whole cup down Marlon’s throat.”
Someone else tweeted: “Oh she fairly threw that down his throat! Did no one tell her how to do it?”
At dinner April was still struggling with what happened with Rhona telling her: “I know that today’s little setback has shaken you but you’re going to be OK.
“These things happen. The hospital taught me what to do when it happens and they are always there to support us.”
As April panicked about what happened, Marlon told her: “It wasn’t your fault.”
April told them: “But you can’t be with him all the time, and what if it happens again or something worse and I’m on my own?
“How are we supposed to live like this?”
She stormed out and Marlon became upset, trying to explain to Rhona that he wanted to go back to hospital until he was better.
The upsetting scenes left fans feeling emotional.
