Emmerdale‘s dramatic anniversary celebrations kick off this week as a huge storm threatens destruction and potential death.

Speaking about her scenes with TV Times Magazine, Claire said: “We had a lot of large wind machines that were very powerful, so I was stuck in the middle of the woods, having all sorts of seed pods, dirt, fern and leaves blown at me.

“I ended up getting a seed pod stuck up my nose! It was there for about a week, but I didn’t know until it went septic and I had to have antibiotics.”

The TV favourite admitted that the salary does not match the extensive workload.

IN THE BALANCE

Emmerdale spoilers: Amelia terrified as she goes into labour during storm

She continued: “It’s three times the workload and not three times the pay!

“In the old days, the big storyline would be, ‘Annie’s scones are going to burn.’ Now, it’s a series of cliffhangers and you finish one storyline and you’re straight into another disaster or something.”

Claire teased that her onscreen character will be taking a “break” after the explosive 50th anniversary scenes.

“I doubt very much that I’ll still be here [when Emmerdale turns 60] if they keep me working at this rate,” she continued.

“I think Kim might be having a business trip soon; I need a break.

“Chas, Cain and Kim all need a holiday together as we’ve been full at it. That would be an interesting one, wouldn’t it?”

Viewers are in for a treat as a storm rips through the village this week.

The day begins on a happy note for Kim as the businesswoman gets ready to tie the knot with Will Taylor (played by Dean Andrews).

Kim is thoughtful as she rides her horse in the surroundings, a nod to the first ever episode of the Yorkshire-based drama, aired in 1972.

Meanwhile, a brooding Will looks pensive ahead of his wedding as Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) hurriedly dashes about, preparing for the ceremony.

Villagers are busy going about their lives, in the hopes of the upcoming nuptials being a success… and unaware that the sky is darkening ominously.

Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) is left to battle her way through the unsafe weather conditions to find Amelia and save the day.

The former vicar turned police constable sets out on a quad bike but could her quest leave her in dire straits?

Later on, the sun rises over Emmerdale in the aftermath of the storm and the full devastation is revealed.
