First look at terrifying new serial killer drama as Luke Evans hunts double murderer in Wales

ITV has given a glimpse of their terrifying new serial killer drama based on the real-life Pembrokeshire murders.

Starring Luke Evans as the lead investigator, the three-part mini-series depicts the pursuit of police on a cold-blooded killer.

Luke Evans plays the detective leading the investigation

The Pembrokeshire Murders comes from the makers of hit shows Line of Duty and Bodyguard, and is due to hit screens in January.

An adaptation of the true crime novel Catching the Bullseye Killer, the drama depicts the events detailed by Senior Investigating Officer Steve Wilkins and ITV journalist Jonathan Hill.

Dracula Untold’s Luke Evans takes the role of the determined policeman – something he described as a “huge responsibility”.

“It’s a huge responsibility for me as the drama depicts a true crime which to this day still affects the families of those whose lives were tragically taken,” he explained.

The drama is based on the true crime story of the Bullseye Killer

Taking place in the 1980s, Welsh police forces re-opened a double murder case linked to a string of burglaries, looking into DNA evidence to catch the killer.

At the time, the investigation attracted media interest after it was revealed the suspect had appeared on the gameshow Bullseye in 1989 – a key element to his identification.

Filming alongside Luke Evans, Welsh actor and father of Lily Allen, Keith Allen, plays the serial killer John Cooper, while Game of Thrones’ Owen Teale depicts barrister Gerard Elias.

The drama will air over three evenings beginning on Monday 11th January at 9pm on ITV.
