Richard Hammond was left mortified on The Grand Tour: A Massive Hunt after he delayed a wedding

The trio have to drive along one of the worst roads they’ve ever been on in their modified cars, and Richard’s Ford Focus RS struggles on the rocky ‘road’.

At one point, he breaks down right in front of a local wedding party trying to get to the ceremony, with the groom and his friends looking far from impressed with Richard as the time ticked by.

Speaking to The Celeb Report Online about the mortifying moment ahead of the show’s release, Richard, 50, said: “There was a moment where I inconvenienced some people on an important day, is as much as I’ll say.

“What we do is we exist in our own little bubble, that’s a fact. We tend to travel somewhere in the world with our team that we’ve worked with for 20 years and a set of machines that don’t want to go where we want them to and we live in our little bubble.

“But it’s a bubble that also exists in context in a world going on around us and sometimes our little bubble interferes with other people’s and that’s what happened then.”

The episode sees the wedding party end up physically moving Richard’s car out of the way so they could eventually get past, hours behind schedule.

But despite the tense scenes, Richard said the locals were more forgiving than he thought they would be.

He said: “It’s always amazing to see how generous spirited and understanding people are and again, I really don’t want to give anything away but they were actually so forgiving for the inconvenience in a way that I wouldn’t be.”

Richard’s troubles went from bad to worse as despite managing to get the car going again, the clutch went further into the challenge.

Richard had to admit defeat and accept the Ford wouldn’t be able to get him to the end of the challenge.

He later said: “This was the first time ever we had lost a car on one of our adventures.”
