The TV star shared the news with his fans today, writing: “It is an absolute privilege and honour to be joining the Whoniverse for BBC Doctor Who Season 14.

“So excited to tune in and to be a part of such an iconic series!

“Russell T Davies and co are absolutely smashing it. Watch watch watch…it will be worth the wait.”

Multi award-winner and Doctor Who executive producer Russell T Davies commented: “Come ON Majid!!

His former co-star Amy Conachan posted: “Proud pal!!”

Corrie’s Kimberly Hart-Simpson added: “Proud of you mate.”

In 2020, Hollyoaks aired shock scenes when Jesse tragically passed away, after binge drinking on his wedding day.

But in real life, Majid has a much happier life with his former co-star Daisy Wood-Davis and the pair tied the knot last year after getting engaged in 2019.

Daisy played the role of Kim Butterfield, the sister of infamous glove-handed killer Lindsay who framed her for the murders, in Hollyoaks from 2014 to 2018.

It comes after Luke said he has changed his life around with the support of his co-star fiancé Daisy.

The BBC show will see Sex Education star Ncuti play the Fifteenth incarnation of the Time Lord later this year.

Majid will be in good company after it was confirmed that Bonnie Langford will reprise her role as Melanie Bush alongside Ncuti.

Bonnie first entered the world of Doctor Who in 1986 as the companion to the Sixth and Seventh Doctors played by Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.

Doctor Who returns in November with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary.

Ncuti first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will air over the festive period where he will be joined by Bonnie.
