GARDEN Rescue viewers ripped into last night’s “shockingly bad” transformation – and branded the new look “a total waste of £6k”.
Yesterday’s instalment of the BBC show saw Ben and Shelley from Wing, Buckinghamshire, ask the Rich brothers and Arit Anderson for help.
The couple, who are keen travellers, wanted to give their outside space a makeover because they thought that their garden was impractical for their two daughters Eva and Maya.
They told the experts that they wanted a Mediterranean court-yard style space and somewhere to put a children’s play area.
Harry, David and Arit were given a budget of £6k to complete the task and managed to give them a large patio, a range of different plants and a top terrace.
Although the pair were happy with the results, fans at home had a different opinion.
One wrote on Twitter: “That’s a nightmare garden #gardenrescue – too much going on and too much growing out of the gravel. Two years from now it will be a right mess and the gravel will be full of cat s**t.”
Another said: “#gardenrescue £6k wasted. Awful.”
“Just caught the end of #gardenrescue Couldn’t help but wonder if they knew anything about Plants Space Design Balance Colour Hard landscape Soft landscape Wig wam building,” a third chimed in.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “I know it’s personal preference, but that’s a waste of £6k! Those steps are lethal, especially with the kids. Way too much growing out of the patio. And the kids area is just a poor attempt at a tee pee #gardenrescue.”
Earlier this month it was revealed why Charlie Dimmock will NEVER let fans see her own garden.
The 55-year-old has helped to transform so many people’s gardens over the years thanks to her work on Ground Force and the BBC show.
However, Charlie keeps her own garden private, and back in 2016 she explained why.
She said: “Firstly I have to say my garden isn’t always in tip-top condition!
“Unfortunately I tend to be away working at the more critical busy times (spring and summer) so I often get behind.
“With all gardens it’s best to do maintenance frequently and regularly that way you actually make the maintenance easier.”
She added to Express: “I’m going to try and make my garden look good because I’ve been doing this so long, it looks like a disaster area!
“In the autumn, I’m tackling my garden; I might get one of the landscape team [from Garden Rescue] to do a bit of paving for me.”
The new series of Garden Rescue sees Charlie and garden designers Lee Burkhill, Flo Headlam and Chris Hull compete to create some backyard showstoppers for lucky members of the public.
Charlie previously participated in the series with the Rich brothers and Arit Anderson, but they left last year and were replaced by the three newcomers.
