Adam appeared on Lorraine on Friday

On Friday, Adam appeared on Lorraine to talk about the series as well as his personal life.

But he left Gardeners’ World fans in a panic when he started the chat by saying: “This is it then, this is my last day on television, I’m retiring after today. This is…I’ve made it.”

As Lorraine, 63, told him to “behave”, he continued: “Seriously I’ve been telling everybody ‘what you doing Friday? Well I’m having a cup of coffee with Lorraine.'”

Lorraine then poked fun at the exchange by sharing a clip on Twitter and captioning it: “The moment Adam Frost terrified all Gardeners’ World fans…”

During the chat, Adam also discussed his wife Sulina’s stint in hospital during the Coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “Bless her she was in there for 11-12 weeks and I could go in there for an hour a day.

“And then going home and telling four kids everything was fine.”

Sulina had been admitted to hospital with sepsis, and he added: “During that time child number three, she ended up with an eating disorder partly out of that.

“But we slowly got through that. Then 10 days later I got locked in a room with Covid and sat in front of a head doctor telling me you’ve got burn out and depression.

“And I’m going ‘really? I only went in the room with Covid.'”

Gardeners’ World airs Fridays at 7pm on BBC Two.
