GENTLEMAN Jack fans are set for a sizzling second instalment instalment of the racy drama after Suranne Jones made a big series reveal on her Instagram page.
Just days before, teaser images showed the former Corrie star in character as land-owner Anne Lister, relaxing as she perched alongside her farming machinery.
At the end of Gentleman Jack’s first season, the sinking of the coal pit ran into unexpected financial problems, putting ownership of Shibden Hall at risk.
While Anne was enjoying herself in Copenhagen and socialising with the royal court, she is summoned home after receiving a letter that her aunt may die of gangrene.
The new instalment picks up where the last left off, and Suranne ramped up the excitement as she posted the trailer on Instagram with the words: “Looking forward to seeing everyone at our launch in Halifax tomorrow evening.. we wouldn’t have it anywhere else

“Then I promise it will finally be on the telly! Hope you think it was worth the wait. Sunday 10th April 9pm BBC1.”

Fans immediately replied in the comments section beneath with many saying the same thing – this being they had waited for “three years” for the scenes to finally air.

SECOND SEASON
The synopsis for the next instalment tells how all eyes are on Anne Lister and Ann Walker as they set up home together at Shibden Hall.
It writes: “Anne Lister’s entrepreneurial spirit frightens the locals as much as her unconventional love life and, with Halifax on the brink of revolution, her refusal to keep a low profile becomes provocative and dangerous.”
It continues: “Series two will again use the real life diaries of Anne Lister – part of which were written in code – as its source, with every part of Lister’s story based in historical fact and the five million words she wrote in her journals.”
The hit BBC show is set in the year 1832 in Yorkshire and is based on the collected diaries of Anne Lister, a landowner, which document her romantic relationship with another woman.
In October 2021 leading actress Surrane Jones revealed they had finished shooting season 2.
She took to Instagram to share a snap of her with Sophie Rundle as they celebrated wrapping filming for series two captioning the photo: “Over and out!”
Meanwhile, Sophie shared a series of fun photos with her co-star, thanking the “incredible cast and crew” after a year of filming.
In an interview with Digital Spy, creator Sally Wainwright revealed the series will be about Anne and Ann’s relationship progressing, and that the content of Anne’s diaries will continue to inspire the plot.

She said: “They move into Shibden together in series 2 and it’s about how they negotiate their married life, conspicuously in public, and how they deal with their detractors and the effect that has on their relationship as well.
“There’s no end of stories, the diaries, this huge wealth of knowledge.”
