Gordon is a successful journalist, editor and broadcaster who made a name for himself by becoming the youngest editor of The Celeb Report’s Bizarre Showbiz column when he was only 26 years old.

While Ben Shephard normally takes the reins, a major line-up change saw Gordon present on Thursday and Friday.

And after appearing alongside Charlotte, she took to social media to praise his debut, while suggesting he could be a more permanent fixture.

The 47-year-old wrote: “Thursday on GMB & a new addition to the team!

“Big welcome to @gordonsmart, what a brilliant debut & he even forgave me for calling him Martin at one point.”

Charlotte posed in her stunning blue dress alongside a suited and booted Gordon as they both beamed for a photo.

She also shared a selfie they took in the studio in front of a Christmas tree, as well as snaps with their guests including Pixie Lott.

Fans of GMB were all left saying the same thing after he appeared on the show recently, and flooded social media in support of Gordon.

Many took to Twitter to welcome the new host, and call for him to become a “permanent presenter” on the programme.

“Good hunky looks aside, he’s definitely doing a good job,” one fan penned. “Let’s make him a permanent presenter.”

“Great to see Gordon on today, a breath of fresh air and I hope he can stay,” a second chimed in to agree.

“Gordon is a great new addition! Love to see more of him,” a third added, while another viewer said: “Really liked him, he should be on more often.”

Gordon said of his new role: “I’m thrilled to be joining the amazing stable of talent, in front and behind the camera, on Good Morning Britain.

“So many of the issues facing the country right now are close to home and I’m relishing the chance to join the debate.”

Regular presenters Susanna Reid, Richard Madeley, Kate Garraway, Ben Shephard and Martin Lewis will all return in the New Year.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
