GMB’s Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard dramatically stop live show to say emotional goodbye to colleague

GOOD Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard surprised fans by dramatically stopping the live show this morning.

The presenting pair called a halt on proceedings to say an emotional goodbye to a colleague who was leaving, after 10 years working on the programme.

GMB hosts Kate, 56, and Ben, 48, were joined in the ITV studio this morning by presenter and correspondent Pip Tomson.

Pip, 45, chatted away to her co-stars in an emotional goodbye segment – as the rest of the show was put on pause.

During her last instalment of the show, Ben gushed over his co-star Pip.

“We just want to say goodbye to one of the team who is leaving us,” he said. “The amazing Pip Tomson. How long have you been with us?”

Looking flustered, Pip replied: “I can’t speak, I didn’t know this was happening. Nearly ten years.”

“I’ve seen you go greyer and greyer,” Ben then joked, as laughter erupted in the studio from behind the cameras.

“Oh Pip we are really going to miss you, but we are excited for your new adventures,” Kate then gushed over the leaving star.

“You’re going to be a huge loss to us at team here, and me personally.”

Looking tearful, Pip told the pair:  “Oh it’s been an absolute joy. It’s a great family – everybody is just amazing to work with.”

“Oh don’t cry!” Kate said as she continued to get emotional, with Pip concluding: “It’s just time. Thank you everybody.”

Pip joined Good Morning Britain back in 2013 – and has been part of a number of memorable moments during her time on the show.

Back in 2016, she was forced to flash her backside after making a promise to her fans online over The X Factor final.

It comes after GMB descended into chaos earlier this week when Martin Lewis made a very naughty sexual innuendo.

His co-host Susanna Reid burst out laughing as straight-faced Martin delivered the early-morning gag on the show.

Money expert Martin had been testing viewers on their maths to celebrate national numeracy day.

Telling viewers they’d get the answer after the break, Susanna said: “We’ll bring you an update on whether it is better value – will you get more pizza – with your 15-inch for a tenner or two ten-inches for a tenner.”

Martin added: “Yes, which do you prefer? A 15-inch or two ten-inches?”

The racy joke had Susanna giggling on air before they went to a commercial break.
