Great British Menu leaves Game of Thrones fans raging – but can you spot why?

Great British Menu left Game of Thrones fans raging last night – but did you spot why?

Thursday’s instalment of the BBC show saw Adam Handling and Stuart Ralston from the Scotland heat go head-to-head for a place in the regional finals.

Game of Thrones were left raging during a segment from last night’s Great British Menu

The show made reference to Game of Thrones last night

The pair had to cook their six-course menus for two-starred Michelin chef Tom Kerridge, food podcaster Ed Gamble, restaurateur Nisha Katona and guest judge comedian Rory Bremner.

For one of his main courses, Stuart created a dish called Game Of The Forest – made up of Rutherford Estates roe deer, fermented wild berries, tartare and barbecue offal.

After listing out what they were going to eat, Ed told the rest of the judges: “It’s inspired by Game of Thrones, much of which was filmed in Scotland…”

But many hardcore fans flocked to Twitter to share how unimpressed they were with his mistake about the HBO series.

One pointed out on the social media platform: “Scottish chef on Great British Menu saying his dish was inspired by Game of Thrones… “much of which was shot in Scotland”….. no it bloody wasn’t! #NorthernIreland#greatbritishmenu #gbm.”

Another fumed: “#GreatBritishMenu This year the brief is to celebrate British broadcasting… Stuart … Link to the brief… ‘Alot of game of thrones was filmed in Scotland…’ 1 – not shown by bbc 2 – not British produced 3 – written by American 4 – IT WAS MAINLY FILMED IN NORTHERN IRELAND!!”

A third added: “#GreatBritishMenu Game of Thrones does not hit the brief. Much of it wasn’t filmed in Scotland, a small part of the first episode was.”

“Why not do the Game of thrones dish and say it’s inspired by Outlander? Would make more sense. At least most of that was filmed in Scotland,” a fourth said.

The American fantasy drama series, which first hit our screens in 2011, has been filmed in a number of locations.

However, the show was mostly shot in a studio in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Other areas include Croatia, Morocco and Iceland.

At the end of the episode it was revealed that Adam made it through to the regional finals to represent Scotland.

When asked how he felt about finding out he had won, the chef replied: “Like I’m going to be sick!

“My whole body feel so numb. I really appreciate that, that’s super amazing, it was great to cook alongside Stuart, he was amazing.

“I learnt lots in the kitchen, I had a great time.”
