Emma Rigby, known for her role in Hollyoaks, is set to make a big splash in Hollywood after securing a role in a major movie alongside actors from Batman and The Walking Dead.
Hollywood Calling
Earlier this year, Emma, 35, made headlines when she decided to leave her role as Hannah Ashworth on Hollyoaks, less than a year after returning to the show.
Despite her departure from the soap, fans can look forward to seeing her on the big screen soon, as she will be reprising her role in the sequel to the 2013 thriller The Physician.
In The Physician II, Emma will star as Rebecca, one of the film's leading characters, alongside renowned actors such as Batman's Aidan Gillen, Game of Thrones' Liam Cunningham, and The Walking Dead's Tom Payne. Other cast members include Owen Teale from Line of Duty and Emily Cox from The Last Kingdom.
Soap Exit
Emma's decision to leave Hollyoaks coincided with a series of changes at the Channel 4 soap opera, including budget cuts and a reduction in the number of episodes aired per week. Originally playing Hannah from 2005 to 2010, Emma's return in 2019 was short-lived due to the altered circumstances.
Reportedly, Emma expressed her desire to depart from the show earlier than planned due to the significant changes that affected her experience on set. A source close to the situation mentioned that Emma had certain expectations for her return to Hollyoaks, which were not met, leading to her decision to walk away.
