Orders to Strip and Shave
Hollyoaks actor Greg Finnegan, known for his role as James Nightingale, has disclosed a surprising encounter on his debut day while working on the soap opera. The Celeb Report has exclusively unveiled details from his upcoming memoir.
A "Sheep-Like" Experience
In his book, 'The World According to Grog', Finnegan recounts how he was instructed to strip down to his boxer shorts in front of colleagues and then completely shaved and given a spray tan, all before even starting filming.
Baptism by Clippers
He describes the experience as a "baptism by clippers," revealing that he was sheared from head to toe by the new head of make-up, Faye Ward, under orders from executive producer Bryan Kirkwood who allegedly disliked any hint of hair on the actors.
Fit In or Stand Out
After the shaving ordeal, Finnegan was directed to a booth for a spray tan to match the appearance of the rest of the cast. He humorously reflects on starting to resemble an ethnicity he had no connection to.
Unexpected Encounters
Throughout the process, Finnegan encountered his new co-stars, some of whom made cryptic comments implying upcoming drama on set, leaving him puzzled and intrigued about what was to come.
Soap Opera Shake-up
The revelation comes as Hollyoaks prepares for a significant revamp, reducing its weekly episodes and implementing a year-long time jump, resulting in the departure of 20 cast members due to channel cutbacks.
Book Release
Gregory Finnegan's book, 'The World According to Grog', hits the shelves on Wednesday 12th September, offering readers an inside look at his experiences in the soap opera world.
