Soap Actress Lucy-Jo Hudson Provides Health Update After Scary Hospital Visit

Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson has opened up about the cause of her recent hospitalization, putting her fans' worries to rest. Last week, the actress underwent two blood transfusions for an undisclosed illness, sparking concerns among her followers. After a six-day social media silence, Lucy-Jo returned to Instagram to share that she has been diagnosed with chronic anaemia.

Health Scare: From Shortness of Breath to Blood Transfusions

Lucy-Jo explained the ordeal she experienced, saying, "Sooooo long story short, I was very short of breath last week, having chest pains and it turned out my HB levels were scarily low!!! They should have been between 115-155, and mine were 67….. my iron levels should have been 38-48 but they were 1.5!!!" She expressed her gratitude towards the staff at Salford Royal who immediately admitted her to the emergency assessment unit and provided her with two blood transfusions. Thankfully, her HB levels have increased to 94, allowing her to breathe easier, and her iron levels are slowly improving with medication.

On the Road to Recovery

Despite the frightening experience, Lucy-Jo assured her followers that she is feeling much better now. She expressed disbelief at how unwell she felt last week and how she managed to function during that time. The actress thanked her fans for their support and kind words.

Back to Parenting Duties

Lucy-Jo concluded her update by mentioning that she is now focused on parenting her two children during the half-term week. Last month, she bid farewell to her role as Donna-Marie Quinn in Hollyoaks after five years on the show. Prior to that, she appeared in Coronation Street as Katy Harris and portrayed Rosie Trevanion in Wild at Heart.
