Homes Under the Hammer’s Martin Roberts ended up stripping naked after begging Strictly bosses for place on show

HOMES Under the Hammer’s Martin Roberts ended up stripping naked after begging Strictly bosses for a place on the show.

The 58-year-old has made no secret of his desire to take part in the BBC One dancing show, and admitted he has been calling producers in a bid to get a spot on the 2022 series.

Martin Roberts has revealed how he stripped off after begging Strictly bosses for a place on the show

Martin took part in Strictly The Full Monty last year

He told Express.co.uk: “I was actually asking the people at Strictly if there’s any chance they might actually take a phone call from me this year.”

While he’s waiting for them to return his calls, Martin recently took part in Strictly The Real Full Monty, where he stripped off to help raise awareness for cancer charities.

However, Martin wonders if getting his kit off could have diminished his Strictly chances in the future.

He continued: “I’ve ended up doing Strictly The Real Full Monty which wasn’t quite what I was anticipating, but, actually that’s been just incredible and is something I’m so proud to have done.

“I mean, hopefully it shows I can dance. Whether or not it’s a nail in the coffin for my chances on Strictly I don’t know.

“It might be the opposite. Maybe they’ll go ‘Actually, you know what he’s a good sport, he gives it his all and actually he can dance.'”

Martin previously revealed the emotional reason behind his decision to take part in Strictly The Full Monty.

Martin opened up on the “internal emotions” that centred around his friend Dave’s passing from bowel cancer.

Referring to his pal as the “brother I never had” he opened up and said: “I don’t want to be too dramatic but I’m actually really emotional.

“As a child I was fat and I was bullied all the way throughout school.

“It takes a lot to get over that body image thing and there’s no way in a million years I’d be doing this if it wasn’t for doing it in memory of Dave.

“He was my friend, my best mate, who died. Dave was the brother I never had.

“You don’t realise until you’ve lost someone quite how pivotal and important they were.”
