I didn’t eat for months, I had no money and I was homeless before Love Island turned my life around, says Olivia Bowen

OLIVIA Bowen has opened up about a “horrendous” break-up she went through before Love Island, confessing she was homeless and didn’t eat for months.

The 28-year-old is now married to her fellow former Love Island star Alex Bowen and the couple are expecting their first child – but Olivia revealed things haven’t always been so good for her.

But she insisted ‘things fall apart for better things to come together’

During an Instagram Q&A, a fan asked Olivia: “Have you ever had to get over a heartbreak? Your life seems so put together now?”

Responding, she wrote: “Girl, I went through the most horrendous, disgusting relationship in my late teens, early 20s.

“I had no home, I moved 6 times in one year, I lost touch with friends, I had no money, I didn’t eat for three months. I was put on anti-depressants. I was a shell.”

Olivia revealed that her best friend saved her life after regularly checking up on her and forcing her to eat.

She continued: “My best friend had to pick me up on a regular basis in her car to console me & calm me down from panic attacks and loss of control.

“I remember one time she did, she took me to her mums & her mum was cooking a roast, she knew I wouldn’t turn down food cooked by someone as I’m too polite so I had my first proper meal in months.”

Olivia added: “She was my guardian angel. Trust me when I tell you things fall apart for better things to come together.”

After appearing on the 2016 series of ITV2’s Love Island Olivia has carved out a successful career as a TV personality and influencer.

She and Alex are now one of Love Island’s biggest earners with a combined net worth of approximately £4.4 million.

In 2020, Olivia revealed she can earn up to £50,000 a month, admitting: “It makes me feel a bit sick saying it out loud.”
