Her last recognised part was in 2001, and she has since retired from acting to pursue a career as a child psychologist.

Her acting career began in her adolescence, when she was cast as Carrie Rawlins in the 1971 Disney feature picture Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Fifty years ago Bedknobs and Broomsticks took us to a fantasy world at the bottom of the beautiful briny sea.

The Disney classic, released in 1971, used a brilliant mixture of animation and live action to tell the tale of three children, evacuated from London to Dorset to live with a witch.

Cindy was a a teenager when she landed the role of Carrie, and she went on to appear in numerous TV shows including Boon, Casualty and Triangle.

Talking about her time on EastEnders, cindy shared: “It was frightening, yes it is, and especially when I was doing it, I did it before and then I went back again and I was working with Barbara Windsor.”

Cindy spoke highly of Barbara and described her as “generous” and “warm-hearted”.

“When you are really scared you want somebody to run the lines with and she would always do that,” she continued.
