I was on Channel 4’s Alone – bears stalked me every night and the show’s safety team couldn’t even rescue me

A CONTESTANT on Channel 4’s new survival show Alone has confessed to being left terrified after being stalked by bears every night.

The testing new show sees 11 contestants dumped into the Canadian wilderness as they are forced to fend for themselves and fight off anything that’s in their way.

With no crew or on-site producers, it is down to the show’s cast to film themselves and keep themselves safe.

27 year old Naomi Aldwyn-Allsworth was left stunned when she discovered she was being stalked by bears nearly every night during filming.

The London based mum-of-one left her son and fashion career back home as she pushed herself to her limits on the show.

Naomi opened up to Metro.co.uk about the scary experience on the Channel 4 show, saying: “Bears came to visit me almost every night. They would be metres away.

“It was frightening at first but then you kind of get used to it. Before the experience began I thought if I saw a bear then I’d instantly tap out but I surprised myself with how brave I am.”

Once a contender taps out of the show they are out of the running of the £100,000 prize.

Whoever manages to last the longest bags the entire jackpot.

Naomi also confessed that while the show’s cast underwent a nine day training course on how best to prepare and adapt to life in the wilderness, the experience became heightened upon arrival.

She added: “We learned to shout ‘hello bear’ when walking into a new space as that is meant to let them know we’re human, and not a threat.

“I was invading their space, they weren’t invading mine. I had to respect that.”

Naomi continued: “I had a foghorn given to me but was told it would only work six-eight times, so I was fearful of wasting it. I also got given pepper spray but was told the scent remained on your clothes and they could think you’re food.

“I came up with my own methods to scare them away. I would bang on my pan or aggressively shout if they came near.

“We are also given a GPS device to use in absolute emergencies but the safety team is 40 minutes away, so they’re not going to be much help to you in the moment.”

Elsewhere, she admitted that the bears appeared to have a fondness for her knickers.

She confessed: “One day, I washed my knickers in the river and put them on a line that I made.

“When I went to bed I could hear the bear huffing and puffing. They were attracted to the scent. I remember thinking: ‘Please don’t take my knickers, I only have two pairs’.

“When I went outside in the morning I saw they were still there. I was grateful, but then also a bit offended.”

During the show’s first episode, one of Naomi’s scary encounters was broadcast for the world to see.

As she filmed in the dark she said that her “senses are already being heightened”.

There are over 3,000 bears in the wilderness where the contestants are strategically dropped, and one of them ends up outside Naomi’s tent.

She said: “I don’t know what the f*** that was.”

It comes as viewers were left disgusted by graphic scenes of a contestant shooting, cooking and then eating a squirrel whole.
