A TIPPING Point contestant has revealed the reason why so many of the questions seem so out of place.
Brighton-based blogger Di Coke appeared on the ITV game show back in October 2017.
Things got off to a good start for Di as she sailed through the quick-fire round, but she sadly missed out on a chance of winning the huge cash prize after failing to answer the questions correctly in round two.
After appearing on the programme, Di wrote about her experience on her website Superlucky Di Coke’s competition blog.
In the post she addressed why it seemed like she was answering questions that didn’t seem very relevant at the time.
Di wrote: “A few people were tweeting to ask why the questions mentioned President Obama, and Mary Berry on #GBBO – it’s because the show was recorded in May last year!”

She then typed out a timeline of how it all worked out.
Di explained she emailed her application in at the beginning of March 2016, and six days later had an audition in London.
Less than a week later she received a shortlist email and then in April was given a choice of three recording dates.
She recorded the show on May 3 2016 and it was later aired on TV on 12 October 2017.
Di added: “After such efficient preparation, the show took a whopping 17 months to actually be broadcast on ITV – although we were told it should be between 6 and 12 months!
“Such a long delay is really frustrating, because you’re not allowed to appear on another quiz show until at least six months after your Tipping Point has aired – meaning almost 2 years without being able to apply for any shows.
“Some people ignore this rule though.”
It comes after mum-of-two Vivienne Radfar revealed she’s pocketed £25k after being on 15 TV game shows including The Chase and Tipping Point.
She sets herself high standards, and says doing her homework beforehand is key to her success.
“I’m super competitive and a perfectionist, I swot up before any game show appearance – it pays to be prepared,” she tells The Celeb Report.
“Most people see me and think, ‘She’s a ‘dumb blonde’ but they’re wrong!
“It’s addictive, I love doing the shows and will keep on entering – but I can’t watch them back. How weird is that?”
Vivienne speaks highly of Tipping Point host Ben Shephard, whom she met on the show in 2015.
“He’s fun and likes to chat,” she says. “Most people assume the hosts have all the time in the world to talk to contestants, but they have to record up to five shows a day.

“That means multiple changes of clothes and dealing with up to 25 contestants, as well as audiences and a busy crew.
“The pressure is on them if they stumble or miss a cue – then that part of the taping gets done again.”
