I’m a body language expert – Love Island’s Maya Jama made it clear she doesn’t approve of villa bombshell

And when it came to giving her verdict on the Islanders, she wasn’t holding back.

Body language expert Judi James says the stunning presenter, 28, runs the spinoff show “like a bombshell on a mission”.

And there were a few tell-tale signs that Maya strongly disapproves of the behaviour of two blokes in the villa.

Judi tells The Celeb Report: “With her gravity-defying, scene-stealing dress and her dramatic, fast-paced gestures of precision and interrogation, Maya Jama sits splicing and snipping at the guests and the villa plotlines like a sexy Edward Scissorhands.”

The first fella who came in for criticism was footballer Tom Clare, who has found himself in a love square with Zara, Liv and newcomer Ellie.

Judi observes: “Maya mimed Tom’s ‘bedroom eyes’ technique to suggest she wasn’t a fan.

“It might be working on the girls in the villa, but Maya also mimed Olivia’s facial response before banging her hands on her legs in what looked like a gesture of disapproval for Tom’s antics.”

Judi says it was also visible through her body language that Maya doesn’t agree with the way Ron Hall has treated Lana Jenkins.

“Maya also mimed Ron, including an exaggerated take on his Cockney accent, suggesting she has his measure, too,” she says.

Judi says Maya’s gestures showed she channelled the girls’ pain

“When she said ‘Poor Lana’ she performed a wince and placed a hand over her face as though channelling her pain.

“This moment of empathy and sympathy was followed by a slap of her hand on her leg to suggest Ron might also be on the naughty step.”

Judi says Maya fits the format of the show so well because her body language suggests she’s sharing the Islanders’ emotions and making herself “one of them”, rather than just hosting.

She explains: “Maya lets her feelings show in two powerful ways. Firstly she uses mime rituals to act out behaviour and responses that she has seen in the villa.

“This suggests immersive, empathetic behaviour and analysis.

“She’s trying out the body language she’s seeing on screen to share and experience the responses and emotions in the villa rather than just watching them.

“This mimicry should give Maya a very accurate sense of what’s going on in the villa and the fall-out that’s being created – which could be bad news for the players when they start to appear on Love Island Aftersun.

“Maya’s constant use of precision gestures show how good her grasp is of the plotlines, and she also uses a dominant-looking raised index finger to conduct the action on the show.”

Fans are now convinced Casa Amor is on the horizon, after Maya “got a text” at the end of the show telling her to pack her bags and head off to South Africa where “things are about to get spicy”…
