PAUL Burrell has hit back at Janet Street Porter after she added fuel to their feud while he was in the jungle.
The Loose Women presenter publically mocked the butler after he suggested they were pals after they appeared together on I’m A Celebrity back in 2004.
Paul Burrell has made his feelings clear about Janet Street Porter
Janet told everyone she wasn’t friends with Paul
Hitting back at her diss, Paul said: “Had Janet Street Porter come down that tunnel, and I’d say this to her face, I might’ve gone out the back door, I might’ve screamed ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here’, I think there might’ve been sparks.
“She’s an anti-monarchist, I’m a monarchist and I think there’s a huge gap between myself and Janet Street-Porter. Is she my nemesis? Only if I let her.”
He added to Slingo: “I hadn’t met her before I did the jungle but I’ve met her many times since and she’s still as annoying as she ever was. I think she’d like to wrap her hands around my neck, but there you go, it’s a love-hate relationship.”
Speaking about Paul earlier this month as he appeared on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, Janet suggested that he annoyed producers.
As host Ruth Langsford asked if they were pals, Janet mysteriously replied: “When I say the words, myth versus reality.”
She continued on Loose Women: “It was more a question of tolerating him.
“They thing about Paul is they [the producers] wanted him to talk about being a Royal butler.
“But he didn’t want to talk about it.
“I kept getting someone to go to the diary room and saying ‘get him to talk about the corgis!'”
Meanwhile, Paul went on to say how ‘liberating’ he found the experience of doing the show this time round.
He explained: “I loved it. I loved doing it a second time around with that cast of people because they’ve done it before, they knew the ropes and they knew how to behave, generally. They knew the process of making the show and I loved it.
“I loved the people in it, I really did. For me, going into it 19 years later to do it again as a different person, I felt, was very liberating.
“My world had changed and this is what I mean with the monarchy too, it’s changing. Charles has changed, Camilla has changed, everybody has changed, nothing stays the same. So for me, I didn’t stay the same.
“I was now married to a man instead of being married to my wife, and yet I’ve evolved and moved on and become myself.
“When I did it 19 years ago I couldn’t be myself because I was too busy looking over my shoulder, whether somebody was going to say something bad or if there was going to be some story in the press, I had to hide then.”
He added: “This time around I actually didn’t even think. I thought nobody’s watching, nobody’s listening. I’m just going to have a bit of fun and what you saw was me having fun.”
