Inside Gogglebox’s Baggs family with false ‘axe’ claims, Lamborghini and a secret sibling

The Baggs Family have delighted the audience since joining the cast of Gogglebox, with mum Lisa, dad Terry, and sons Joe and George fast becoming fan faves.

The Great Dunmow-based clan have made a great addition to the hit Channel 4 show, where people see armchair critics watching and critiquing the week’s top telly.

The foursome generally all appear together at the family home, where they thrill viewers with their witty commentary.

But it turns out there’s more to the Essex bunch than meets the eye, with a secret sibling.

For goss on this, false axe claims, the family’s earnings, and George’s passion for flash motors, scroll down…

False ‘axe’ rumours

It was rumoured the family had been axed after they chose not to take part in the show in 2020 due to Covid

Viewers had only been watching the Baggs family for a single season before rumours started to swirl they’d been axed.

Their alleged departure from the show caused total uproar among fans, proving just how popular Terry, 56, Lisa, 50, Joe, 23, and George, 17, had become in such a short space of time.

The rumours came after reports the family hadn’t really been a big hit and had been given the chop.

An insider told the Daily Star: “The Baggs family are out of the show and won’t be appearing any more. They only lasted one series. It was short and sweet”.

“The Baggs are on good terms with producers so there will always be a possibility that they’ll return at some point”, the source went on to say.

In response to the rumours, Lisa took to social media to explain she and her brood had decided not to take part in the show’s 2020 run due to Covid, nothing else.

The telly personality wrote: “I can categorically confirm this is a total LIE! Due to Covid restrictions we are unable to film this current series. Channel 4 have been wonderful to work with and we hope to be back one day soon”.

Joe backed up his mum on his own account, saying: “Frustrating to address this but we weren’t dropped. Due to the lockdown there aren’t enough cameras to go around to the entire cast, and therefore we decided as a family to take a series off”.

“Of course there was criticism about us, the producers said this happens to all new families so it’s not uncommon and not a reason people get cut from the show”, he added.

Properly putting the rumours to bed, the Baggs bunch did make their return in September – and much to fans’ delight too.

“My day is made”, one enthusiastic viewer penned, while another remarked: “Yessssss! The Baggs’ are here to stay!”

Secret’ sibling

Joe and George have a brother called Danny who doesn’t appear on the show

The Baggs four are actually the Baggs five, but Joe and George’s sibling never joins the rest of his sofa-surfing family – perhaps one day though!

Lisa’s other son is named Danny Bayley, 31, and he could be seen in a snap alongside his little brothers at her 50th birthday bash last year.

In the sweet post, Lisa appeared in a leopard-print dress clutching a balloon with ‘50’ on the front, smiling for the camera with her smartly-dressed lads.

The big bucks

Joe’s TikTok account has nearly 600,000 followers and got the family noticed in the first place

It’s well known that appearing on Gogglebox can bring in some serious cash, with each family earning a reported £1,500 per month and even more on social media.

Not to mention free snacks and takeaways!

Maybe it’s Joe making bank on socials, with his whopping 600,000 TikTok followers – many of whom he’d already attracted before appearing on the show.

On the account, which has an eye-popping 20 million likes, the 23-year-old posts hilarious videos.

In a recent clip, he could be heard in fits of laughter as Geoge prances about in a pair of size-11 gogo boots that his bro bought for Halloween.

Fun fact: it was Joe’s side-splitting content that got the family noticed by Gogglebox head honchos in the first place.

Sweet ride

George is training to be a plumber while Joe works in recruitment

However much the Baggs clan are raking in on top of their monthly Gogglebox fee, Terry still works as a car salesman.

Perhaps that’s where youngest sibling George – who is training to be a plumber – got his love of flash cars.

The teen impressed his pals when he rocked up to his school prom last year in a swanky Lamborghini – lucky lad!
