Love at First Sight
Television host Victoria Coren has opened up about her fairytale marriage with her famous husband, revealing that she knew they would tie the knot just hours after meeting him. Coren, best known for hosting the BBC quiz show Only Connect, met her husband, comedian David Mitchell, at a film premiere in 2007.
A Match Made in Comedy
Despite Mitchell's portrayal of the obnoxious and awkward Mark Corrigan in Peep Show, Coren fell head over heels for him after being introduced by mutual friend David Baddiel. Reflecting on the fateful introduction, Coren said, "I thought that was ridiculous but, a couple of hours later, I thought I would probably marry him."
Patience Pays Off
Mitchell admitted that he felt the same way but waited patiently to pursue a relationship with Coren as she grieved the loss of her father. After three years, Mitchell finally asked Coren to marry him, and the couple has been happily hitched for over a decade now.
Still "Hopelessly in Love"
Unlike many celebrity couples who end up divorcing, Coren and Mitchell are still going strong, even after welcoming a child into their lives. Mitchell has spoken openly about his admiration and love for Coren, and in one of his books, he wrote, "She’s not only too wonderful, she’s too right for me. I feel very lucky. I am just incredibly proud that someone like Victoria wants to be with me."
The Ideal Match
Coren also shared her love and admiration for Mitchell, stating, "he could have had a gorgeous 24-year-old skinny wife with a tiny nose and a string bikini, but he chose me! Me!" She believes that they are the perfect match and couldn't imagine being with anyone else.
The couple's love story is a true testament to the power of love at first sight and the strength of their enduring relationship. Coren and Mitchell's story proves that sometimes, you just know when you've found the one.
