Is Our House based on a true story?

Our House is not based on a true story but a book of the same name.

The ITV drama follows the story of estranged married couple Fi (played by Tuppence Middleton) and Bram (Martin Compston) who still live together.

When Fi returns home one evening, another family informs her that the property has been sold to them.

To make matters worse, all of Fi’s belongings are gone and she cannot get hold of Bram for help.

Set over 12 hours, viewers will follow Fi has she tries to disentangle what’s happened, save her house, and find her missing husband and children.

“It’s a tightly plotted, roller coaster ride, full of unexpected twists and turns, that becomes incrementally darker as the series unfolds,’ said Writer and Executive Producer, Simon Ashdown

What book is Our House based on?

Our House is based on a book of the same name that came out in 2019 by Louise Candlish.

The following year it claimed the prize for Book of the Year in the crime and thriller category at the British Book Awards.

It was also featured as Waterstones’ Thriller of the Month in September 2021.

The retailer described the story as “a twisting odyssey of suburban betrayal”.

Louise’s books, are known for being emotional dramas and are usually set in different locations.

The first novel she released was Prickly Heat in 2004, which was her first romantic tale.

Who stars in the ITV thriller?

Leading the cast is Downton Abbey actress Tuppence Middleton who plays the role of Fiona Lawson in the new drama.

Her estranged husband Bram Lawson is played by Scottish actor Martin Compston.

Weruche Opia plays Merle in the series, Fi’s best friend and neighbour.

Whitechapel actor Rupert Penry-Jones plays Fiona’s new love interest, Toby along with Viewpoint actress Bronagh Waugh playing the role of Alison. 

ITV’s Honour actress Buket Komur plays Wendy as well as Call the Midwife actress Dinita Gohil who plays Lucy.

Rounding the cast is Lu Corfield as DS McGowan, Harriet Webb as Kirsty and Tommy Finnegan as Leo Lawson.
