Jake and Liberty being comforted by Love Island psychologist after shock exit

LOVE Island star Jake Cornish is being ‘comforted’ by the show’s mental health team after leaving the villa.

It comes after it was revealed earlier today that the water engineer, 24, and former girlfriend Liberty Poole, 21, decided to pull out of the ITV2 show.

Liberty and Jake have had a rough couple of weeks on the show

The pair – who have been together since day one – have had a tough few weeks, which has made the Nandos waitress question their relationship.

Last night it came to an end as fans fumed that the Weston-super-Mare lad “refused to fight” for her.

Despite speculation that the pair may get back together after Thursday night’s teaser at the end of the show, it has since been confirmed that the pair have in fact left the villa.

Following his departure, Jake will receive any help that he needs from the Love Island psychologist, The Mirror has reported.

The pair were looked after by experts for the past seven weeks, and it has been confirmed that it will now “continue on the outside”.

This will include a total of eight therapy sessions after when they return home to the UK, social media training, and 14 months worth of psychological support.

These protocols were brought into place after the tragic death of series two star Sophie Gradon in 2018.

Libery and Jake’s relationship hit a rough patch after footage of the hunk saying he didn’t want to rip his girlfriend’s clothes off was playing out into the villa during Movie Night.

Things were made worse when Jake tried to stop his girlfriend from going over to hug best pal Kaz Kamwi after she became exclusive with Tyler Cruickshank.

His actions made her question how genuine he has been and if he’s just playing up to the cameras.

Last night Liberty reached boiling point after he told her she gave him the “ick” because she was messy.

She couldn’t hide her heartbreak as she left the villa in tears for a breather, and told Faye that something in her heart wasn’t right.

Although it was revealed yesterday that Love Island axed their final date, last night’s preview showed something very different.

In a first look at tonight’s instalment, the couple enjoy a romantic afternoon on board a yacht in the Mediterranean sea.

With the scenes airing later today, it’s obvious that the two have a very different final date to the remaining loved-up couples.

Last night Teddy Soares asked Faye Winter to be his girlfriend and Tyler swept fashion blogger Kaz off her feet.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2
